The emerging trends in education are led by the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in classroom materials. AI is being used as a tool for both educators and students to enhance their educational experience together. For teachers, AI is being used as a tool for creating classroom materials and for students, AI is being used as an “outside of the classroom” support system. By seeing the positive outcomes that AI can do to enhance the educational experience in society, it is hard to argue why AI shouldn’t be embraced in the educational setting.

The emerging trends in education are reshaping the culture of learning by providing learners with a support tool. Learners can use AI as an on-demand tutoring service to help understand concepts in education. AI has become so vastly improved in the last few years that AI has become well versed in all education subjects and has become a great real-time tool for students to access support in their studies. Another use that students can use AI for is by creating an educational experience that the classroom cannot. When viewing the TED Talk by Sal Khan, there was a discussion of how students in literature class can talk to AI as if the AI was a character from the literature required from class. The immersion that was discussed was amazing how a student reading “The Great Gatsby” could talk to AI like a chat room as if the student was talking to Gatsby himself.

The emerging trends in education are reshaping the culture of teaching by helping teachers become more efficient when creating classroom materials to best support their students. Teachers can also interact with AI by discovering different ways of teaching a given subject. As educators, we always decide what we think is the best means of teaching a concept, but it is also great to collaborate about different ways lesson plans can be executed. By using AI, teachers will be able to grow in their profession and become a better resource for their students.

The role of educators in an era of digital learning is to discover the best means of facilitating the tool of AI. As stated, there are benefits for both the educator and the educated in multiple ways. However, there are both positive and negative effects that can be created through the use of AI as well. It is the job of the educator to find the best means of use of AI to best support their students and encourage the best practices by their students when receiving support by AI tools when learning outside of the classroom.

    There are two really good points you brought up that I'd like to comment on! The first was how teachers must *grow* with the introduction of new tools in order to better their teaching. The other point I really liked was making sure to state that there are both pros and cons to AI. But like you said, the benefits heavily outweigh the potential downsides!

Wise Integration of Technology

The two technological frameworks that I chose to look into for a further understanding of wise integration of technology were the RAT framework and the Triple E framework. The RAT framework stands for Replacement, Amplification, and Transformation. The Replacement step refers to replacing a form of instruction that is not currently using technology. Amplification refers to the idea that if a form of technology is being used, then the technology must amplify the learning ability for students. Lastly, Transformation refers to the idea that the technology being used is able to accomplish something that an instruction without the technology couldn't.
